The Archimake approach

Interactive learning, not just instructions

Guided Workshops and Guided Courses are asynchronous and interactive — your child works when it suits your family, not at a live tutor appointment.

An Archimake project review, where young designers explain and discuss their design decisions

The Guided Workshop uses interactive AI support to encourage dialogic learning — a way of learning through questions, responses, reflection and the exploration of ideas.

Rather than simply giving your child information or telling them what to do, the interactive experience encourages them to explain their thinking, consider different possibilities and develop their ideas. This helps children become active participants in their learning, strengthening their reasoning, creativity and confidence.

The interactive support can also respond to your child’s level of understanding, providing supportive explanations when they encounter a new idea, concept or piece of vocabulary. This is particularly helpful when exploring architecture and the built environment, where children may encounter language and concepts that are unfamiliar from school subjects. Because Archimake workshops are designed for a broad age range, the interactive experience can help each child develop their understanding without assuming that they already know the terminology.

Why your child’s ideas matter

In architecture and design, why your child designs something for others can be just as important as what your child designs.

A drawing or model may show what a child has designed, but it cannot always show the thinking behind it — or whether they have considered the needs, experiences and perspectives of different users.

This helps develops an important skill for designers: being able to communicate their ideas to other people. By talking about their work developing observation skills, responding to questions and ideas, children develop the confidence and communication skills they need to present and discuss their designs with others. The outcome of this is seen in the Archimake Project Review, (attendance optional).

In this way, the Guided Workshop is not simply about producing a drawing or completing a project. It helps your child develop the ability to think, question, design, and communicate — skills that are valuable both within design and far beyond it.
